About

The Bearded Blog is an attempt to collect my (admittedly long-winded) reviews of Progressive rock and related releases and performances.  I am an avid listener, record collector, and flutist, pursuing a degree in Music Technology.  From an early age, I was interested in two things: writing and music … this is my attempt to combine both passions into one spot.  I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I enjoying listening, writing, and discovering.  Maybe while we’re at it, we can both discover some new records and reappraise older ones.  Thank you for taking the time to drop by.

Hi, we’re Carpet from Augsburg, Germany.

We like to get you to listen to “Elysian Pleasures” our new album on Elektrohasch.

There’s nothing really heavy here, just psychedelic, inventive, adventurous, melodic and atmospheric progressive pop-jazz-rock. Carpet was formed in 2009 as a solo project of Maximilian Stephan in Augsburg, Germany, and has since grown into a full-blown band.

“Elysian Pleasures” was album of the month in Germany’s biggest Prog-magazine “Eclipsed” this summer,
we got a big interview special in Belgiums “prog-résiste” magazine got featured in France’s most known prog newsletter and are about to play on Germany’s biggest Stoner/psychedelic festival Burg Herzberg.

Our LP is now sold out and the second edition is in production.

On our bandcamp-page you can listen to a few songs of the album.

Hi Ian , I thought you might enjoy this ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRwVvWwcwaA

I also thought you might find this of new and interesting way to release new and interesting music!

    *Start propaganda roll*

‘Craig Scott’s Lobotomy’ is association with Wasp Millionaire Records are proud to present the first ever album to be released in the form of a Pink Latex Brain – Perform a Lobotomy to access the Download code for Craig’s new album ‘War is a Racket’ hidden within!

The Brain’s are available as part of a fundraising campaign to raise money to release Craig’s ‘Regressive Medio-Core’ masterpiece in the more traditional formats of 12″ Vinyl and Compact Disk.

    Find out more here http://www.CraigScottsLobotomy.com

Incase you dont trust your own judgement here are some lovely things that have been said about Craig Scott’s music by trustworthy individuals / organisations…

“Craig Scott is in a class by himself when it comes to creating wildly inventive music of all sorts, you can’t really pin it down and put a label on it– a hallmark of all the best music”

Gary Lucas ( Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band / Jeff Buckley)

“He Obviously has alot of time on his hands”

Jez Nelson (BBC Jazz of Three)

    Art for Art’s sake , Money for God’s Sake…

As we started to realise that the music INDUSTRY does not sell music but sells idols, culture and fashion, we thought it would be a good idea to cut to the chase and create ‘THE CHURCH OF CRAIG SCOTT’. As part of this campaign we will be awarding individuals with official titles in the church (and like all good cults) dependant on how much money is pledged.

    Hope you Enjoy the music!
